A new steel framed building with an assortment of traditional masonry with insulated metal roof and wall cladding, glazed curtain walling and associated facilities for lorry and car parking.

This development has since been awarded an Excellent rating from BREEAM (only the second building in Cornwall to be awarded this accolade). BREEAM has the world’s foremost rating system for building developments. By measuring and monitoring the energy use of the completed building. Insuring the use of materials by accredited suppliers for responsible sourcing and environmental credentials for the manufacturing process of the materials. Resulting in a completed building which has been designed, built and finally used with the consideration to the impact to the environment and the end user.

As the main contractor we had the responsibility in not only insuring we met the strict requirements in using approved suppliers (local where possible) but also to record, monitor and control the impact the site operations with regard to Co2 emissions in transport and energy, water usage, air pollution and general waste. This method of working will assist the construction industry to act responsibly in future by making everyone aware and  to consider minimising energy and water use, material waste and pollution.
